Dear Parents

As I am sure you are all aware there is a risk that there may be an outbreak of swine flu in this country. We are following the advice of health authorities as well as the Independent Schools Council. The importance of washing hands regularly and disposing of tissues follows the Government campaign ‘Catch it, bin it, kill it’. If your child has any flu-like symptoms, please do not bring them into school.

Obviously we wish to continue as normal unless it becomes impossible. In the unlikely event of government instructions to close schools in order to prevent the spread of infection, we would try, as far as possible,  to post work for pupils on Year group pages which will appear on the Website (www.woodfordgreenprep.co.uk) if we have to close and we would ask that parents check the website regularly. Work for marking could be sent by email attachment to the staff concerned either as a scanned document or as a word file if it was photocopied. Please let the school know if you have no facility for sending or receiving emails. For those with no email facility we will do our best by post. Government advice is that if a child or their family have recently returned to the UK from Mexico but show no symptoms, then they should continue their life (and education) as normal.

At the moment we are monitoring the situation and will up-date you if any of this advice changes. In the meantime we are trying to keep a balanced view but recommend that you regularly check the website for further information.

Yours sincerely

Tony Blackhurst

Headmaster
